Dog Gone It!

Hofbrauhaus Newport Dog Gone It

Written by Rachel Gyarmati

After writing our most recent blog, I realized I needed help keeping up with my planner. When I asked my family, the only person who was free to help was my youngest child. While I was thankful for the sweet gesture, I was still hesitant. You understand why if you’ve had a seven-year-old “help.”

Then, I had one of those light bulb moments. Why not try this kid out on the blog for a bit? I’ll just have to help with research, writing, and editing.

Sochi, Author

Please be kind; this is her first time working with the public.

Without further ado, meet my sweetest girl, Sochi. She’s a rescue who loves kids and does a great job letting us know when someone is at our door.

Today, she’ll tell us about a great event that we hope will help some special dogs that can only be classified as heroes.

Heroic Hounds

Did you know that humans send their pups to a vet just for them? It’s good to know that there’s a place my younger humans can go to get better. Mom tells me this is a “hospital,” and dogs work there.

This elite pack calls itself The Canine Comfort Facility Dog Program and rolls with over 35 dogs and humans.

Their work includes:

  • Providing both emotional and physical support to both patient and family.
  • Working with patients to meet individualized treatment goals
  • Helping kids to have some normalcy in a hard time through play

Two unique species are working together in harmony to make great things happen. How can you not bark for joy?

Pretzels for Pups

We want to help The Canine Comfort Facility Dog Program by donating profits from our July pretzel sales. If this isn’t reason enough for you to take a walk to the Biergarten, then what about a party?

On Thursday, July 11, at 5 pm dogs and their humans are invited to the Biergarten to celebrate Pretzels For Pups. Humans are encouraged to buy pretzels and the other excellent German food you love.

We canines will have a bowl of fresh ice water, which is refreshing and complimentary. This means humans have more pretzel money!

B-105.1 FM will provide all the country hits to make your human dance and sing. I wonder if there’s a country cover of “Who Let the Dogs Out?”

Start a Bark Chain

If you can’t make it to the Biergarten on July 11, don’t worry…you can still do good for the Canine Comfort Facility Dog Program by spreading the word to your friends.

Starting on July 1, we encourage humans to start a bark chain, or “post, as you humans call it, showing you enjoying your pretzel. Double treats for you if you have your best four-legged friend with you.

I’m told this can be done on Instagram or Facebook. I can’t wait to see all my doggy friends and their humans doing good for the pups who need it the most.

Here’s where you can find us:

We cannot wait to see how much fun you and your humans have this Summer whenever you come. The humans here at Hofbräuhaus love showing off our canine and human guests.

You can also bring your whole pack to Family Night on the second Tuesday of each month. From 6:00 p.m. on, kids eat free (with the purchase of an adult entrée) and are entertained with balloon animals and face painting.

I’ve brought it up with my owner, Rachel; face painting for dogs is still prohibited. I’ll be sure to advocate for that this Summer.

Zoomies in the Haus

Did you know there is a party here on the last Wednesday of every month? This is a humans-only event in the Bier hall, where a barrel of that month’s Seasonal Bier is tapped. There’s a mini parade with live music, and they let the humans dance on benches.

July’s featured bier is the Pilsner Bier. My humans (the ones over 21) like to drink their bier in the Biergarten and share appetizers. It seems very refreshing, perfect when we’re sitting out here in the sun.

Thank you for reading my first blog. I can’t wait to see you guys in the Biergarten this Summer. I hope you have a pawsitively fun summer.
