Celebrate Summer!

Written by Rachel Gyarmati
Warm weather + Biergarten + Red/White/Blue + Grill = Summertime
Here in Newport, Kentucky, Summer is in full swing. For weeks now, families have been holding celebrations for graduates of all kinds, weddings, and taking advantage of those precious hours of extra sun we get to enjoy.
The biggest celebration of all is Independence Day (July 4th), which we observe to celebrate our independence from Great Britain. Honestly, there is nothing better than sitting under the night sky with people you love, watching the sky explode into color.
Since you’re our favorite reader (don’t tell), we want to help you get the best of the 4th of July this year. Especially if you’re going out before or after fireworks this year, as a bonus, we will also add our bit of trivia that you can drop during your meal to impress your friends and family.
July 4th isn’t the only celebration happening this Summer. We have a few suggestions for getting the best out of this Summer’s happenings.
We will start by inviting you and your crew to enjoy the mellow bustle of the Biergarten. Our entire food and drink menu is available with a great view waiting. The best part is our street access, perfect for our four-legged buddies. You don’t need a special occasion to join us; we love seeing the Biergarten full of fun.
Getting Our Summer On
Be sure to stop by to enjoy Summer to relax and take in the view, or enjoy some air conditioning with friends! Here’s what we have going on in the coming months.
Father’s Day (Sunday, June 18th)
Sunday brunch isn’t just a Mother’s Day thing. This year we suggest bringing Dad to what we believe to be the best Brunch in Newport.
One of the best offerings on the Brunch Menu is called Breakfast on the Levee.
- 2 Scrambled eggs
- Goetta patty
- Breakfast potatoes
- Buttermilk biscuit
- Häus made country sausage gravy
There is a Kids’ Brunch menu for the little ones at your party, with familiar dishes to make even the pickiest eaters happy. If you plan on joining us for brunch on Father’s Day, we suggest making reservations by calling (859) 491-7200, as seats fill quickly.
The Cincinnati Beer Run (August 26th)
The Beer Run is celebrating its 10th year with a Disco theme! Here are the details in a copy/paste safe format for your group chat. As the hosts of this fantastic event, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to recruit your buddies.
All participants must be 21 or older and present their I.D. at registration.
*Cincinnati Beer Run*
- Saturday, August 26th
- Runners start at 10:00 a.m. and runners at 10:05 a.m.
- 5 Mile course with beer samples every half mile
- The course ends at Hofbräuhaus Newport, where you can rehydrate (responsibly) with your choice of a 16-ounce beer.
- Eat, drink, raise money for charity, and be merry.
The Run is a must, even if you only come to observe. Last year’s Luau theme brought out a super creative crowd who greeted us with epic group costumes.
Oh, and Bier… you know, with an ie.
Live Music All Summer
Our favorite bands will continue to oom-pa-pa into the Summer every weekend. We’re pretty sure it’s the only place on Saturday where you can grab a Stein and dance on your seat like no one is watching.
Summer Lovin’
Romance is easy to find when you have a beautiful city to look at. Did you know that the Biergarten offers some of the most picturesque views in the area?
Let us tell you why the Biergarten (Blog) is the perfect place to get quality time this Summer.
- It’s a safe and accessible place for a first date.
- We have pretzels and Bier cheese.
- You can both bring your dogs. This is important for many reasons.
- Go to a movie and then the Biergarten after to talk about it (you’re welcome).
- This month’s Seasonal Brew is the Hopfen Weizen (5.4% Alc. by Vol.), whose hoppy-forward taste is perfect with any menu item.
If your date goes well, don’t forget to make it social media official! Did you know we have an entire Instagram account devoted to our favorite canine customers? We’re still working toward that blue check mark; in the meantime, we’d love to see you and your pup having fun.
Big Family Meals
The Bierhall and Biergarten offer a fun and warm place to have dinner with family. Maybe it’s that final big family dinner before the college send-off or where you witness an engagement.
This blogger knows that if I bring all my kids in for dinner, I can fully relax and enjoy them. It’s one of our family’s favorite spots, especially if we’re hosting town guests.
It doesn’t have to be dinner, either. The Biergarten is a great place to decompress after a night out with a liter or to cool off with dessert.
Phew! It’s only the beginning of the Summer, and we already have so much to look forward to. Please pay attention to our social media for more fun and great Bier. We hope to see a lot of you!
